During the Maiden Meeting of Head of Units of Park Planning, Research and I.C.T. Held at Parks Headquarters, Abuja Between 26th -27th of May, 2015, the Conservator-General in his opening remarks, stated as follows; that the meeting was timely and very crucial considering the importance that the Service attached to Planning and Research since its inception as pivotal to meaningful development; that the National Park Service Governing Board recently approved the restructuring of the Service, consequently, the hitherto Department of Planning, Research and ICT has now been splits into Department of Fiscal Planning, Budget and Procurement and Department of Park Planning, Research and ICT; that the purpose of the meeting was to get officers and men of the Department acquainted with the development and to brainstorm on how to cart the way forward for the upliftment of the department in particular and the Service in general; that Officers and Men of the Department of Planning, Research and ICT, be more committed and dedicated to their duties so as to move the Service to greater height; that in view of the paucity of funds at the disposal of the Service at present due to economic down turn of the nation, the Department and the unit parks should collaborate effectively with other stakeholders in environmental management and seek for alternative means of funding their activities, rather than depending solely on Government subventions. The Conservator-General charged participants to be engaged in a constructive brainstorming during the meeting on the way forward as he wished them happy deliberations.
